The Watch Water Home Page

The Watch Reservoir is set in the Lammermuir hills adjacent to the Southern Upland Way.

The approach road to The Watch Water Fishery from Longformacus and through the steading of Rawburn Farm offers stunning views of the surrounding Borders landscape. Located around 900 feet above sea level an attractive feature of The Watch is a feeling that you have arrived at a place of remoteness and somewhere that is deeply embedded in nature. Here, the pressures and busyness of daily life and ever-present noise pollution are absent, and are replaced with the cackle and sight of grouse, resident Canada geese and visits from the seasonal Ospreys. The Watch Water is a rewarding and elemental place to both fish and experience.

The Watch Water Fishery is now under a new management structure. Together, the Angling Associations of Kelso and St Boswells and Newtown Districts are the reservoir’s current leaseholders. Both clubs aim to develop the Fishery substantially and plan to provide for the Association’s members, visiting anglers and angling clubs, one of the best boat and bank fishing venues for naturalised brown trout and stocked rainbows in the Scottish Borders.

The Management Committee administers the day-to-day organisation and running of the Watch Water Fishery with membership from the two Angling Association's. The Committee is further supported by a Helper Group with a wide range of skill sets who assist in the running of the Fishery. In this our first year of operation we would be keen to broaden that Helper Group. If you are interested in helping please get in touch.
